Die Schweiz (franz. Suisse, ital. Svizzera, rätoroman. Svizra), ist ein Binnenstaat in Mitteleuropa. Sie grenzt an Frankreich, Deutschland, Österreich, Italien und Liechtenstein und besteht aus 23 Kantonen bzw. 26, wenn die Halbkantone einzeln gezählt werden.
Switzerland (German: Schweiz, French: Suisse, Italian: Svizzera, Romansch: Svizra, Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica) is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It has borders with France to the west, Italy to the south, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east and Germany to the north.
The climate is temperate, but varies with altitude. Switzerland has cold, cloudy, rainy/snowy winters and cool to warm, cloudy, humid summers with occasional showers.
Switzerland is known for its mountains (Alps in south, Jura in northwest) but it also has a central plateau of rolling hills, plains, and large lakes. The highest point is Dufourspitze at 4,634 m while Lake Maggiore is only 195 m above sea level.

La Suisse alémanique représentée par 21 cantons : Bâle ville, Bâle campagne, Berne, Lucerne, Unterwald, Nidwald, Zürich, Argovie, Saint Gall, Appenzell Rhodes-Intérieures, Appenzell Rhodes-Extérieures, les Grisons, Schwyz, Uri, Schaffhouse, Soleure, Glaris, Zoug, Thurgovie, le Valais et Fribourg
La Suisse romande ou francophone représentée par 7 cantons : Berne, Fribourg, Genève, Jura, Neuchâtel, le Valais, Vaud.
La Suisse italienne représentée par les cantons du Tessin et des Grisons.
Berne, Fribourg et le Valais sont trois cantons bilingues Français/Allemand et le canton des Grisons est le seul à être trilingue (Allemand/Italien/Romanche).
